High-Protein Greek Yogurt Chocolate Mousse: 5-Min Easy Dessert

  • Author: Lucia
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A rich, velvety, and high-protein chocolate mousse made with Greek yogurt and dark chocolate. This easy, no-bake dessert is ready in just 5 minutes of active time and serves as a healthy, satisfying treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (450g) full-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-processed preferred)
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup (50-100g) sweetener (maple syrup, erythritol, honey, or agave)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (85g) dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa or higher), melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • Optional: 1 cup fresh berries (raspberries or strawberries)

Instructions

  1. Ensure Greek yogurt is cold but let it sit for 5 minutes to make mixing easier.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate chips gently using a microwave (30-second intervals) or a double boiler. Let cool until warm, not hot.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, sweetener, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Whisk vigorously until smooth and sweetener is dissolved.
  4. Add cocoa powder to the yogurt mixture and whisk until fully combined and no streaks remain.
  5. Pour the warm melted chocolate into the yogurt mixture. Gently fold in with a spatula until just combined, leaving some marbling for visual appeal.
  6. Divide mousse into serving glasses or bowls. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
  7. Top with fresh berries, chopped nuts, or extra chocolate before serving.

Notes

Use full-fat plain Greek yogurt for the best creamy texture; low-fat versions can be watery and tangy. Ensure melted chocolate is warm, not hot, to prevent curdling the yogurt. This mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Do not freeze as the texture may become grainy.
