Description
A refreshing, alcohol-free mocktail made with fresh mint, lime, and soda water. This recipe balances tartness and sweetness perfectly in just five minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves (packed, about 20–25 sprigs, preferably spearmint)
- ½ cup fresh lime juice (about 4–5 medium limes)
- 2–3 tablespoons sugar or simple syrup
- 1.5 cups soda water or club soda
- Ice (crushed or cubes)
- Optional garnish: lime wheel and mint sprig
Instructions
- If using granulated sugar, prepare simple syrup by heating equal parts sugar and water until dissolved, then cool.
- Place 8-10 fresh mint leaves in the bottom of a highball glass.
- Add 2 tablespoons of sugar (or 2 tablespoons of simple syrup).
- Gently muddle the mint and sugar to release oils without shredding the leaves (about 10-15 seconds).
- Squeeze in the fresh lime juice and stir gently to dissolve the sugar.
- Fill the glass to the top with ice.
- Pour in the soda water slowly to preserve carbonation.
- Stir gently with a long spoon to distribute the mint.
- Garnish with a lime wheel and a mint sprig (slap the mint sprig between hands to release aroma before adding).
Notes
Do not shred the mint leaves as it releases bitter chlorophyll; gently press and twist instead. For best flavor, use room temperature ingredients. Chill glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes before serving. Do not store mixed mojitos as the soda goes flat; store the muddled mint-sugar-lime mixture in the fridge for up to 2 hours and add soda water just before serving.
